Multiple “Emergency alert (exercise)” tests were sent out across the nation early this morning.
Twitter users from multiple time zones checked in to discuss the timing of the tests. The test alerts appear to be nationwide as users reported being woken up across multiple time zones from 3 AM to 6 AM.
One user reported their android phone went off while their Apple device did not. Possibly Samsung devices affected?
We personally received 4 alerts on a Samsung/android.
Others reported 3 to 5 test notifications coming through.
Each emergency alert displayed the same message
This is only a test of Emergency Alert, Please ignore 00004340-15548E9
Samsung and the local NWS were not immediately aware of why the alerts went out. The NWS is looking into this information.
